Linux and the Book Industry -
Atlas Products International (API) have expanded it’s EDI, XML and communication systems onto the entire range of Unix platforms to include all flavours of Linux including Red Hat Enterprise, Fedora, SUSE, DEBIAN and many more.
Nielsen Book Services’ TeleOrdering
announced that it had selected the Atlas/Linux combination to add to their
existing Atlas servers driving the Teleordering system.
TeleOrdering, part
of Nielsen Book Services and owned by VNU publications, is the largest
provider of data and EDI services for the book industry.
Chris Ostrom, Nielsen
Book Services IT Director, said “We have used
Atlas since TeleOrdering was launched in June 1994. The whole EDI translation
for our TeleOrdering network runs multiple Atlas EDI software on Multiple
Unix and Linux platforms.
“It is also the EDI messaging translator
for our BookNet web solution. We chose the Linux/Atlas EDI combination
for its enhanced performance and ultra reliability. Effectively Atlas EDI
has been at the core of the electronic book ordering industry for over
13 years.”
We also fully comply with BIC’s e4books accreditation scheme and
believe it is a valuable element of the industry’s efforts to ensure
that all trading partners are communicating orders, invoices, credits,
delivery notes, acknowledgements and other business critical information
electronically by 1 May 2008.
